Your Shed, Your Way

We offer a wide range of structural design options to best meet your requirements and match your property.

Our team can customise your shed to fit your exact size preferences.
Your shed can span up to 30 metres, have bays up to 8m and eave heights up to 8m if required. We can also accommodate uneven bay widths.

Options for additional space

A mezzanine floor is an effective way to increase floor space and add storage capacity, without increasing the total area of the structure.

Note: Mezzanine floors are not available for all structures. Our team will help determine whether an inclusion of a mezzanine floor into your structure’s design is possible.

A-Line’s Trademarked Steel Frames are expertly designed to deliver superior strength and durability. The best frame type for each build is determined by the type of structure, size and operational requirements.

STEEL FRAME OPTIONS:

The appearance, style and functionality of your shed is significantly affected by the design of its roof. A-Line offers a choice of different roof styles with additional options, such as eave extensions, lean-tos, skylights and solar power engineering.

Roof styles

Gable roofs are the most common roof style chosen for sheds. They have a classic profile with a high point in the centre, allowing for large storage space, sloping toward the gutter on both sides of the apex.
Skillion roofs have a modern profile with a single pitch running from the high point on one side of the shed to the low point on the other side. Both Gable and Skillion roof styles offer effective protection against inclement weather and run-off of rain water.

Eave extensions

Eave extensions are available for most sheds, allowing for up to 1m additional cover from heat, wind and rain, without requiring additional support.
Eave extensions can also enhance the aesthetic appeal of your shed, adding a touch of architectural sophistication and visual interest to the overall design.

Lean-to roofs

A-Line offers a range of lean-to options. A lean-to is a simple structure with a single-sloping roof that “leans” against an existing enclosed shed, to provide extra storage, parking and shelter for assets that do not require enclosed storage space. It’s an efficient way to add space for tools, firewood, vehicles, or as a small workspace, using the main shed as support. In addition to shielding your assets from harsh sun, rain and hail, a well-designed lean-to can also add to the value and overall aesthetic of the shed. Please note: Not all sheds have the option of incorporating lean-tos. Our team will help determine whether a lean-to is a feasible addition to your shed design.

Skylights
Installed in the roof to bring natural light into the shed, skylight sheeting improves brightness and ambiance, especially in central spaces. Made from industrial-strength fibreglass, A-Line’s durable skylight sheeting is built to withstand industrial environments, while harnessing natural light which can also help reduce energy costs associated with artificial/powered lighting.

Solar panel engineering

If you plan to install solar panels to your shed’s roof, A-Line can deliver engineering solutions to facilitate your requirements, ensuring the structure can manage the added weight and possible wind resistance.

  1. Insurance: Insurance companies are increasingly wary of insuring roofs not originally designed for solar installations. A-Line can ensure that the correct engineering is applied at the design stage, to help with insurability and ongoing peace of mind.
  2. Council regulations: Recent updates to Australia’s NCC (National Construction Code) have included regulations for structures with rooftop solar panels. To avoid potential future complications and expenses, A-Line can ensure your shed design complies with local council regulations.
  3. Preparing for the future: It can be less complex and more cost-effective to include engineering capability for solar panels at the design stage, rather that retrofitting to meet requirements later.

A-Line offers a range of window and door options, designed to enhance the accessibility and functionality of your shed, while adding to the aesthetic and supporting your operations.

Roller doors
A-Line offers a range of roller door solutions, including chain operated, motorised and wind-locked roller doors (reinforced to defend against damage during inclement weather/storms).

Personal Access (PA) doors
A-Line’s Personal Access (PA) Doors allow for easy access points in your shed or other structure, often installed alongside larger industrial doors and are meant to provide easy access for personnel without needing to open a larger door (e.g. roller door), which can be more practical and safer in commercial or industrial environments.
They are required for entry on sheds with domestic or industrial roller doors that are fitted with a chain operation and must also be compliant with regulations for disability and wheelchair access.

Sliding doors
A-Line offers a wide range of steel sliding door solutions, which are a particularly practical choice for large sheds such as garages, machinery sheds, industrial sheds, light aircraft hangars, etc. Made from 100% Australian steel, our sliding doors are built for robust performance and superior durability.

Windows & glass sliding doors
Installing windows and glass sliding doors to your shed or other structure can increase the level of natural light and ventilation to your operations. During the design process, A-Line can incorporate specific spaces for the windows and glass sliding doors, allowing clients to source and have them installed through a preferred registered suppler.

The interior environment of a shed can play a major role in ensuring healthy and productive operations. The below optional components can help to maintain a clean, insulated and well-ventilated space, facilitating optimal functionality.

Insulation
Roof insulation solutions, such as sarking (applying a protective membrance) offer effective weatherproofing and insulation against radiant heat, according to your operations and requirements.

Ventilation
Additional ventilation can be applied by the inclusion of ‘whirlybird’ roof ventilators, which are wind-powered gadgets built into your roof that spin to extract hot, stale, and moisture-laden air from your roof space, creating suction that pulls in cooler outside air. This reduces heat buildup in the structure, improving air quality, and preventing condensation, mould and mildew without using electricity, to assist in keeping your structure cool and dry.

Vermin proofing
A-Line structures are designed with COLORBOND steel flashing, applied to all corners and openings, offering effective protection against vermin and pest infestation.
This comprises a folded metal flashing connected from the inside of the wall sheeting and continuing over the concrete foundation slab, helping to prevent vermin entering the shed after the build.

A-Line offers an extensive range of wall and roof cladding/sheeting profiles, with the availability of the full COLORBOND® colour range or ZINCALUME® steel.

We also offer a choice of different gutter, barge and ridge profiles.

To best match your property and the visual aesthetic of the surroundings, A-Line structures are available in the full range of COLORBOND® Contemporary, Classic and Matt colours, plus Zincalume®.

FAQS

Yes, absolutely! We specialise in creating sheds tailored to your requirements. Whether you need extra storage or workshop space, a unique layout, or preferred colour scheme, we’ll design a shed that’s perfect for your needs and property.
Explore our Completed Projects or our Gallery to see some of the sheds built for clients across Australia and get inspired for your own shed.
We use only high-quality, Australian-made materials that are built to withstand tough weather conditions. From the steel frames to the roof sheeting, every part of your structure is engineered to last.
In Victoria, most sheds and garages do require a building permit, and sometimes a planning permit depending on size, boundary setbacks, and overlays. Your supplier or a private building surveyor can confirm this.
We’re here to guide you through the council permit process and ensure your shed, garage or other structure meets all local regulations.
We work with approved A-Line Distributors across the country, in both metropolitan and rural areas. Each Distributor is a professional, qualified builder, ensuring that each and every A-Line build is completed to expectation.
Timelines can vary based on the complexity of your design and site requirements. Once your design plans are finalised, you’ll be provided a clear timeline for your project, so you know exactly what to expect.
Yes. We use 100% Australian Steel (BlueScope® / COLORBOND® or Zincalume®), designed to resist corrosion and perform well in rural and coastal environments.
Approved A-Line Distributors are locally based experts who can assist you with the whole build process from end-to-end, tailoring a shed or other structure to your unique requirements, whilst navigating the permit and regulatory requirements, including site specific engineering compliance. Our Distributors will build your shed/structure with experienced, professional build crews and manage key areas such as concrete and coordination of other trades, as part of their service offering.
You will receive a 10-year Warranty on the BlueScope/COLORBOND Steel materials that we use and a 30-year Structural Guarantee on our framing system.
